Early Intervention Speech Language Pathology
Summerside Physio is very proud to also offer speech and language rehabilitation for our families in need. Our Speech-Language Pathology team works with children who have difficulty communicating or with oral-motor control. They can assess, prevent, and treat speech, language, and communication delays and disorders. In, addition, they can help with some conditions involving the control of the mouth including toungue-tie, breast feeding, and chewing/swallowing. Speech therapy may be beneficial to your child for:

Your child is hard to understand
Your child has difficulty producing certain sounds
Your child has received a diagnosis such as a speech sound delay or phonological delay

You are concerned your child is not talking enough for his or her age
Your child has difficultly using words, grammar, or sentence structure correctly

Phonological awareness is an important skill to the development of reading. It includes but is not limited to learning letter-sound correspondence, syllable awareness, rhyming, and blending and segmenting sounds.
