Summerside Physio is very proud to also offer speech and language rehabilitation for our families in need. Our Speech-Language Pathology team works with children who have difficulty communicating. They can assess, prevent, and treat speech, language, and communication delays and disorders. Speech therapy may be beneficial to your child for:

    • Your child is hard to understand

    • Your child has difficulty producing certain sounds

    • Your child has received a diagnosis such as a speech sound delay or phonological delay

    • You are concerned your child is not talking enough for his or her age

    • Your child has difficultly using words, grammar, or sentence structure correctly

    • Your child has received a diagnosis of an expressive language delay

    • Your child has trouble following directions

    • Your child struggles to understand language and concepts

    • Your child often looks to you or peers for guidance on what to do

    • You child has received a diagnosis of a receptive language delay

    • Phonological awareness is an important skill to the development of reading. It includes but is not limited to learning letter-sound correspondence, syllable awareness, rhyming, and blending and segmenting sounds.

    • This area may be difficult for children who have a speech-sound delay

    • Problems with nursing and latch

    • Problems with swallowing

    • Picky eaters

    • Tounge Tie

    • Frenectomy
