No, we don’t “just treat kids”, we welcome patients of all ages!

Whether it’s a Sports injury, a Motor Vehicle Accident, or even a WCB claim, we love to work with adults and seniors too. But fair warning, we plan to make your treatment just as fun! Here are some examples of common treatments you might see at Summerside Physiotherapy as part of your care.

Manual Therapy

"Hands on" therapy to help relieve pain and muscle spasm, and help restore joint mobility. A must for many orthopedic problems!

Exercise Prescription

The proper home exercise program makes all the difference in maintaining your improvement. Expect a little “homework” after every session.

Education

The most important part of any treatment plan. The more you know about your condition, the more you can do to help with the healing and prevent it coming back!

needling

Whether it’s using Acupuncture and the philosophies of traditional Chinese medicine, or the muscle release techniques of Functional Dry Needling (FDN), needling can be a fast and effective way of treating stubborn problems.

Electrotherapy

In some cases, certain conditions such as tendonitis, sprains, and strains can really benefit from the pain relieving and anti-inflammatory effects of electrotherapy.

Pet therapy

Pet Therapy is a common way to improve people’s moods and symptoms simply through positive interactions with animals. It has been clinically proven to help decrease pain, lower anxiety, lift the overall mood, and help decrease the need for pain medication.

On Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons, our staff “Fuzzio-therapist” Rigger, a trained service dog, will be here to interact with you during your appointment as much or as little as you would like. Feel free to go say Hi, call him over, involve him in your exercises, or just have a cuddle during your session. He is very friendly, and excited to help make your day just a little bit better!

Please let our staff know if you’d rather not have any interaction with Rigger during your session, or consider another day or time for your appointment.
